I develop black-and-white film at home in Los Angeles, in a bathroom with a towel under the door.
This site started as the sheet of times I kept taped inside a cupboard. I got tired of hunting for datasheets with wet hands, so I copied out the parts I use, checked every number against the makers' PDFs, and put the source next to each one.
Where the numbers come from
Every development time on the times page comes from an Ilford or Kodak datasheet, linked beside it with its date. The calculator uses Ilford's published reciprocity formula, plus a temperature rule I fitted to the examples on Ilford's chart; the page says which is which.
Makers revise their sheets. If a number here doesn't match the current datasheet, the datasheet wins.
What this site doesn't do
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics, nothing loaded from other sites.
- No cookies, except a security cookie on the archive sign-in pages.
- Nothing for sale.
